If you change your password while connected to the network on your office computer, the password on your laptop does not automatically receive this change. When this happens, follow these steps to sync the laptop password with your network password while working with your laptop in the Township office. Note: if you want to do this when you are working remotely, or using your aircard with your laptop in the office, click here for modified directions.
- Plug your laptop into the network (temporarily move the network cable from your PC to your laptop.
- Boot up your laptop and wait 2 minutes before trying to log in. (The PC should "see" the network.)
- Log in to the laptop using your new password. (Be careful that the Caps Lock is not turned on.) After two attempts, if you were not successful, try using your old password once.
- After logging in successfully, wait a minute until all the normal services are started, and then press Ctrl-Alt-Delete on laptop.
- Click ‘Lock’ to temporarily lock your computer.
- Log back into laptop with new password again (while your computer is locked, but connected to VPN, it will download/see your new password).
- Now, you can shutdown your laptop; the local password on the laptop now matches your network password.
